okay, here's a little something that might help you guys that have been having problem with finding the secret areas and getting the coloured gems in Crash Bandicoot 2.

Secret Areas

Secret Area: Air Crash
Found In: Level 13 - Bear Down
At the end of the level, there are a couple of blue platforms that lead to a small island. Basically, just jump across these platforms onto the small island. Be warned, the blue platforms don't stay around long, so make your decision where you're going.

Secret Area: Snow Go
Found In: Level 7 - Air Crash
On the first deck where you ride the Surfboard, there are some boxes next to it. Jump onto them onto the lone platform. This will take you to the Snow Go secret area, where you obtain the Red Gem (look below)

Secret Area: Road To Ruin
Found In: Level 17 - Diggin' It
After the split between the Death Path and the Normal Level, where it joins back together, there is a Checkpoint. Beyond that is two of the flower enemies. One of them is on a lone platform. Get close enough to him so he ducks, but make sure you dont get hit by the other enemy, jump on him and then body slam. You'll be teleported to Road To Ruin.

Secret Level: Totally Bear
Found In: Level 15 - Unbearable
Right at the end of the level, after riding polar, he launches you like he normally would after a ride with him. Difference is, you can now go back for him. Do a slide then a jump from the thin path to the ledge, and continue up the path. Polar will be sitting there. Run up to him and you'll be transported to Level 26 - Totally Bear

Secret Level: Totally Fly
Found In: Level 16 - Hangin' Out
After the second drop through the hole, past the first hanging part of the level, you drop into a pool of water. forwards is a checkpoint. hit it. then continue BACKWARDS and drop through the hole. Get past the hanging part down here (you'll need to use the Circle button so you don't get hit) and continue down the path, following the wumpa fruit, you'll be transported to Level 27 - Totally Fly

Secret Area: Unbearable
Found In: Level 15 - Unbearable
After the second chase, the bear falls into the hole. There are 4 planks of wood left, walk on them and then JUMP into the whole. Thats right, just fall in. You'll be taken to a secret area of the level, which will get you the Gem in that level.

Coloured Gems

Blue Gem
Found In: Level 1 - Turtle Woods
After getting the normal Gem in this level, go back through the level WITHOUT hitting any boxes. When you get to the end, the Blue Gem sits where the normal Gem normally would.

Red Gem
Found In: Level 2 - Snow Go
The first thing you'll have to do is get the Secret Area of Snow Go unlocked, so take a look up a bit. Go through the Secret Path and at the end, jump down the gap to grab the gem. BE WARNED: the Gem is VERY easy to miss, so prepare to get pissed off if you miss it and it took you ages to get through.

Green Gem
Found In: Level 10 - The Eel Deal
After the second Aku Aku box, or the first split in the level, there is a ton of Nitro boxes. If you had an Aku Aku before you came into the level, and haven't lost one since, this should be the third one. Run into the boxes if you have the invincible mask, if not, dodge through them. There is a wall at the end that looks like a door. Run into it, you'll go straight through it. Get to the end and obtain the Green Gem. You'll have to run back, though.

Yellow Gem
Found In: Level 11 - Plant Food
On the first deck of the level, just past the first two hippos, a timer appears. You have to get through the whole level before that timer hits Zero. You have 1 minute. It's near impossibe, too. Even with 2 Aku Aku masks. The Yellow Gem will be at the end of the level where the Normal Gem would be. If you don't get there fast enough, you'll see it fly off.

Purple Gem
Found In: Level 20 - Bee-Having
Partway through the level, there are a couple of Nitro Boxes stacked on top of some Metal Crates. Notice they aren't bouncing or making the noises Nitro Boxes normally do. Jump on them. They're fake. Get to the top, as it leads you to a Secret Area (which I should have mentioned above, oh well) much like the Unbearable Secret Area. Get through and grab the Purple Gem.
